Baker was born in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and was a student at New Smyrna Beach High School where Baker was a prominent player on the wide receiver team of New Smyrna Beach Barracudas high school football team. The year 2001 saw him broke records for the only season of Barracudas record for the most catches, 17 touchdowns, 67 catches , and 1,142 yards.
